Srithanu Beach in Koh Phangan
Srithanu or Sri Thanu is a long bay on the west coast of Koh Phangan. It is a fishing port but is in shallow waters so can only handle squid boats and longtail boats. Nearby is the village Ban Srithanu which functions as the main market for the west and north west of Koh Phangan. The whole area around Srithanu is very relaxed and has a Thai feel to it. There are cheap noodle stalls and karaoke places as well as a couple of farang friendly bars and restaurants with satellite TV in the village. At the norhtern end of Srithanu bay there's a small footbridge leading down to a wide sandy beach which has year round swimming. Next to it is a big lake where you can also swim. This area used to be a tin mine.
There's a good selection of accommodation at Srithanu. All prices are inclusive of tax.
