Srithanu or Sri Thanu is a long bay on the north west coast of Koh Phangan, just below Haad Chao Phao. It is a fishing port but is in shallow waters so can only handle squid boats and longtail boats. Nearby is the village Baan Srithanu which functions as the main market for the west and north west of Koh Phangan. Srithanu is about 20 minutes away from Thongsala by taxi or motorbike. The roads in the area are in good condition.

The whole area around Srithanu is very relaxed and has a Thai feel to it. It is a great place ot catch the sunset. There are cheap noodle stalls, karaoke places and a temple as well as a couple of farang-friendly bars and restaurants with satellite TV in the village. At the northern end of Srithanu bay there's a small footbridge leading down to a wide sandy beach which has year round swimming. On the beach is a small bar called 3 Monkeys Bar that serves cold beer and cocktails and twice a week has a free BBQ.

Near Srithanu village is a big lake called Laem Son that offers swimming and a shady pine forest. The area near the lake used to be a tin mine.

Lofya Nature Resort has pleasant cottages on the beach and a cool communal swimming pool. In the middle of the beach is Nice Beach Resort. It has air-con bungalows on the beach. Chills Resort is new to the r24.org booking engine. It has nicely designed rooms on the rocks at the southern end of the beach. It also does scuba diving courses. Srithanu is a good choice for those who like quiet beaches with great sunsets.
