Haad Rin is the beach where the world famous Full Moon Party happens every month at the zenith of the moon's progress, unless the moon's peak coincides with one of the many Buddha Day Public Holidays in Thailand. In which case the party is moved to the day after the full moon.

Even when there isn't a Full Moon Party going on Haad Rin is a lively place with many great nightspots to check out including Club 9, Koh Phangan's only real 'club'. There are many great bars and restaurants in Haad Rin. You are spoiled for choice with food - as well as Thai you can find Italian, Indian, Scandinavian, Israeli and Japanese food in Haad Rin. There are also many shops, travel agents and souvenir stores in Haad Rin. You can also study Muay Thai or go to a fight night. Transport

Haad Rin is the main tourist hub on Koh Phangan island. It has its own pier with regular ferries to Maenam on Koh Samui. There is also a good coastal road to the main town of Thong Sala. It takes about 20 minutes on a motorbike or in a taxi. Beware of the hills around Haad Rin as they are potentially dangerous for drunken and inexperienced drivers. Beaches

There are two beaches in Haad Rin, the bigger sunrise beach, Haad Rin Nok where the main parties occur and the smaller sunset beach, Haad Rin Nai. Be sure to reserve your accommodation well before the Full Moon Party as every party sees most places in Haad Rin fill up early. Also remember that nearly all resorts have a minimum stay requirement for the Full Moon Party.

10 minutes walk from Haad Rin town is the small beach of Haad Sarikantang (also known as Haad Seekantang and Haad Leela). There are a few bungalow resorts next to this popular white sand beach that also features mangroves.

There is a mountainous trail going north from Haad Rin for 5 km to the small beach of Haad Yuan. It is a gorgeous beach suitable for swimming. Unlike Haad Rin, Haad Yuan is a peaceful place that is more about relaxing than partying. It can also be reached by longtail boat from Haad Rin.
